Shipley based charity Kingdom Wrestling teamed up with new nonprofit Hot Tag Foundation to support Airedale Hospital and Community Charity’s gift appeal this year.
A 40 person “Toyal Rumble” was held at St Peter’s Church, Shipley in a bid to encourage local people to donate gifts towards the appeal.
Founders Dan French and Gareth Thompson spent time with children in the playroom at Airedale General Hospital’s Children Unit when they came to donate the gifts.
Having spent time in hospital as a child, founder of the Hot Tag Foundation Dan, said: “It’s brilliant to see the space that the children have in the hospital to play, it’s a fantastic reminder that children are still children and need that downtime to play whilst having treatment.
“Getting to see the smiles on children’s faces is the reason why we do this and having that one-on-one time with a young wrestling fan showed us the true meaning of Christmas.”.
The donated gifts will be distributed to children on the ward at Airedale over the festive period to hopefully bring a sense of normality whilst they are undergoing treatment.
Founder of Kingdom Wrestling, Gareth said: “Airedale is my local hospital, it’s where my children were born so being able to give something back is a bit of a full circle moment.
“I’m really proud of what has been achieved this year especially for the gift appeal. I’d like to express a heartfelt thank you to our community for their support, you’ve really made a difference this Christmas.”
