Airedale’s Emergency Department (ED), like many others in the country, is under significant pressure this winter. We’re proud to have been able to respond quickly to the urgent need of the department, working closely with ED colleagues to help patients and families.
Airedale Hospital and Community Charity has funded 10 toddler beds and blankets to allow children to rest if they have a long wait in the department. The beds can be stacked easily so can be stored efficiently when not in use.
We have also provided a dignity supply for the waiting room for people to use when they have a longer wait than anticipated and have not brought enough supplies with them. This includes nappies, formula, wipes, and other useful items. The service is free for families to use and is managed by staff in the department.
Last year, we funded a secure mobile charging station in the ED waiting room which provides free, fast charging for 30 minutes for any mobile device. This is available for anyone to use to stay connected to loved ones and keep themselves entertained while they are in the department.
To support our Emergency Department by donating dignity items, please email anhsft.charity@nhs.net and watch this space for an announcement coming soon.
