Airedale Hospital and Community Charity’s annual Christmas Sock Day returns on Friday 16 December 2022.
You will have heard of Christmas jumper day, but what is Christmas sock day? For the past three years, Airedale Charity has run Christmas Sock Day because clinical staff such as doctors, nurses and other healthcare workers at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust wear uniforms or scrubs to treat patients so can’t wear their Christmas jumpers. To make sure that everyone could join in the fun, Airedale Charity came up with Christmas Sock day, since everyone wears socks in the winter!
The charity is encouraging local residents, businesses, schools and community groups to put their best foot forward and get involved to support Airedale hospital and its community services in Ilkley, Settle and Skipton.
Simply pick your favourite festive or fancy socks, pop them on, and donate £1 to Airedale Hospital and Community Charity to raise funds to support the Airedale community. Airedale Charity’s Christmas sock day will take place on Friday 16 December, but people can pick a different date to suit them if they prefer.
A spokesperson for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity said:
“We are delighted to be running our Christmas Sock Day again this year. It has been a huge success the past few years, with lots of staff at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust taking part, as well as local schools and other members of the community.
“Christmas Sock Day is a little bit of fun to celebrate the festive period. We want to encourage everyone to join in and raise money to support our local hospital and community services.”
