Keighley based NRGym selected Airedale Hospital and Community Charity as their charity of the year in 2025.
Throughout the year, the NRGym team hosted various fundraising events for gym members and members of the local community to get involved with. From these events an incredible £2,000 was raised to purchase toys, games and other distraction items for the Children’s Unit at Airedale General Hospital to help with distraction for children of all ages undergoing procedures and tests.
Jodie Hearnshaw, Charity Manager said: “It’s been brilliant to work alongside NRGym and seeing their members getting involved in the Hyrox challenges. The NRGym team have a real passion for their local community and having had personal experience with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s services, see the value in funding items to make the patient experience even better.
“Being able to fund items to assist with distraction is a vital part of what we do as a charity. It’s a way to keep children calm as they undergo tests and treatment as well as providing entertainment as they begin their recovery.”
The first event of the ‘NRGames’ was hosted on Sunday 23 March and the final NRGames of 2025 took place on Wednesday 31 December. Gym members took on a blend of challenges made up of CrossFit, Hyrox and functional training exercises.
“It’s been a fantastic year fundraising for equipment for the Children’s Ward at Airedale General Hospital. After finding myself on the ward with my own son, I was able to personally speak to the ward team about what would be most beneficial to the children” said Rousel Chowdhury, joint owner of NRGym.
“With our members raising a brilliant £2,000 throughout the year, we able to fund lots of toys and games including a Nintendo Switch for the Children’s Ward. We’re looking forward to hearing about the difference they make for the local children receiving treatment at Airedale.”
