Paediatric Diabetes Specialist Nurse, Rebecca Fox and her mum, Tracey Cooper will be walking the length of The Great Wall of China this September in a bid to raise £5,000 for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity.
The funds raised from this incredible challenge will support children and families under the care of the Paediatric Diabetes team. This is something Rebecca and Tracey have lived experience of both professionally and personally.
Rebecca said: “My sister was my inspiration to become a children’s diabetes nurse. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 5 so as a family, we have all witnessed the struggles our mum has been through as a parent of a child with type 1 diabetes.
“Taking on this challenge is a fantastic way to raise funds for something so close to my heart. It’s also providing me with a really great opportunity to spread some awareness about type 1 diabetes and the support that the Paediatric Diabetes team at Airedale provide to our community.”
Tracey and Rebecca will begin their 8-day journey on Saturday 20 September and will cover vigorous climbs totalling over 10,000 uneven steps, winding paths and plenty of twists and turns along the iconic Great Wall.
