NRGym in Keighley flexed their fundraising muscles last month as they hosted their third HYROX event on Sunday 28 April. HYROX is a functional fitness competition designed for everybody combining running and functional workouts. 68 competitors took part in the event and raised over £1000 which was shared between local charities Airedale Hospital & Community Charity and Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice.

The gruelling event consisted of 1km row, 1km Ski, 2km bike, 80m burpees, 100 box jumps, 100 weighted lunges, 100 wall balls, 100m farmers walk and between each discipline a 1km run totalling 8km overall.

The gym community came together to support the event with plenty of volunteers to steward, judge and of course to spectate.

Joint Owner, Rousel Chowdhury said: “We’d like to say a big thanks to all the people who came to support the event, worked hard partaking in the event and to those who helped out where needed on the day. It wouldn’t have been possible without you!

“I’d like to give a special shout out to onsite Clean Eats Kitchen for their fundraising efforts and all of the team who made the event a success – we can’t wait to host our fourth event later in the year.”

As well as fundraising for the event, Clean Eats Kitchen were on hand to give all competitors a much-needed post-race protein shake on the house.

Jodie Hearnshaw, Charity Manager said: “We are so grateful to everyone from the NRGym community and Clean Eats Kitchen for turning up on the day and taking on such an unbelievable challenge. It sounds like an amazing day and we can’t wait to see what happens at the next one.

“The amount raised for our Children’s Ward is fantastic and the team are so appreciative to Rousel, Nick and all who took part on the day.”
