After club members took to a vote, Airedale Hospital and Community Charity were selected as the running clubs chosen charity of the year.
The Athletics Club has kicked off their fundraising efforts with £416 donated to the charity already. The donations were made from runners taking on the Howarth Hobble fell race and a track mile race.
Helen Fuggle, Keighley and Craven Athletics Club Committee Member said: “Keighley and Craven Athletics Club are proud and pleased to have chosen Airedale Hospital and Community Charity as its Charity of the Year for 2025.
“As our name states, we are very much part of the community in Keighley and surrounding area, and we aim to support local charities. As we run our races throughout the year, we will be pleased to raise money for such a worthy cause.
“We invite any interested parties to have a look at our website www.kcac.co.uk for more information, or come along at Carleton Keighley on Green Head Road on Tuesday or Thursday evenings just before 6:30pm.”
The next club race is the Bronte 5. A five-mile race from Haworth Cricket Club on Thursday 5 June at 7:30pm. If you’d like to get involved, then get in touch with the club through the contact details found on their website.
Carla Weatherall, Charity Fundraiser said: “We’re very grateful to have been selected as the Keighley and Craven Athletics Club’s chosen charity of the year. A large part of the Airedale workforce enjoys getting active and we hope this partnership encourages more of our colleagues to get active whilst supporting charitable causes.”
Keighley Town Council Festival of Sports 2025 takes place between 2 – 9 August. KCAC will again be taking part and inviting people to come and join us to give it a try and see what it’s like to run with a supportive group in their local area. Juniors joining in will be able to take part in a mini-Olympics, which was greatly enjoyed by new youngsters alongside the club’s regular juniors. All are welcome.
