Year 7 students at Settle College have raised an amazing £880 for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity by taking part in the charity’s Grow it! challenge encouraging students to ‘grow’ money using their entrepreneurial skills.
Students start the challenge with £1 and are challenged to use it by running their own business to make money! Maisie, Emily, Lola, Avena, Amelia, Lucy, Maia and Lily (pictured) from Settle College took up the challenge – and through their hard work, raised over £800 for AHCC by hosting bake sales, raffles and even making miniature pompom hat decorations!
Teacher, Ms. Ashton-Fitch said: “I am delighted that the students took the opportunity to get involved with the challenge! They came along to the lunchtime club every week, discussing ideas and getting organised for all of their fundraising ideas. They were able to develop their enterprise and teamwork skills whilst raising money for a fantastic local charity. I am so proud of their achievements!”
The Grow it! challenge started at the beginning of the school year and brings a focus to fundraising and helping students develop entrepreneurial and teamwork skills.
Laura Hepworth, Community Fundraiser at Airedale Hospital and Community Charity said: “The girls have done an amazing job this year, we’re so grateful for their hard work and determination. We love that this challenge provides an opportunity to work with our local young people, and we’re so impressed with what they’ve been able to achieve. They should be so proud of themselves!
