There are times when we need to raise funds for something really special. Creating an appeal means you can help us raise these funds and celebrate when we reach that target.

Here are the special projects currently happening at Airedale Hospital & Community Charity:

Support our Intensive Care Unit for Airedale

We are raising funds to support the creation of a new Intensive Care Unit at Airedale General Hospital.

The recent experiences of Covid-19 have shown the value and importance of having an efficient intensive care unit at Airedale Hospital. The new ICU will be a modern space to treat the hospital’s most ill patients. It will be flexible and able to adapt quickly to the needs of the community.

Funding has been agreed to build a new ICU at Airedale General Hospital with its doors due to open in Spring 2022. Airedale Hospital and Community Charity is hoping to raise funds for the added extras that are over and above NHS provision. They are the smaller things that really make a difference when patients and staff need it the most.

For more information on how you can help or to set up your own fundraising challenge please contact the charity team on 01535 294870 or at anhsft.charity@nhs.net.

Funds remaining after the appeal has closed will continue to be used for the benefit of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, its patients, employees and community.

Make a splash!

Renovating Airedale’s hydrotherapy pool

Airedale General Hospital has been home to a hydrotherapy pool for many years.  Over this time the physiotherapy team have used the facility to treat thousands of adults and children with many different conditions, helping them to regain and improve independence, reduce pain and increase strength and fitness.

Due to age the pool is no longer fit to use, and will be unable to reopen its doors to patients.

With your help we hope to make a huge splash and raise £50,000 to bring our much-loved pool to life once more.

For more information on how you can help or to set up your own fundraising challenge please contact the charity team on 01535 294870 or at anhsft.charity@nhs.net.

Any funds remaining after the project is complete will be used for the support of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.

Help us renovate our quiet room

We are raising funds to renovate and improve the outpatients quiet room at Airedale.  This room is an important space within our busy outpatients department.  The room is used by a variety of people, including patients and staff.  Often, patients use this facility following an appointment where they may have received bad news relating to results, cancer or another life changing diagnosis.  This can be a very upsetting time and it is important they receive this news in a calm, comfortable and caring environment.  Having this facility means our patients are given the time they need to process the news and ask questions before leaving the hospital.

At the moment the room is tired, uninviting and quite clinical.  We hope to transform it into a non-clinical lounge area where patients can feel relaxed and at ease.  The added extras such as comfortable sofas, soft lighting, plants and refreshment facilities will mean patients can stay and reflect on the news that they have just received in calm and tranquil surroundings.

If you would like further information or would like to discuss setting up your own fundraising activity please contact the charity or outpatients team on 01535 294870 or via email: anhsft.charity@nhs.net.

Donations of items such as soft furnishing, artwork and equipment would also be gratefully received.  Any funds remaining after the project is complete will be used for the support of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust.
