Leightons Estate Agency in Crosshills have recently made an £882 donation to Airedale Hospital and Community Charity’s Comfort Chair Campaign.
The campaign was launched to support Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s Palliative Care team and the local communities they support as they navigate end of life care. Whilst providing essential care, the team also provide mental and emotional support to patients and their loved ones. The team set up the campaign in a bid to provide a comfortable chair on every ward at Airedale General Hospital for loved ones to use at the bedside of patients during their final moments.
Karen Jones, Palliative Care Team Leader said: “Being able to provide a specialist palliative care recliner chair for every ward is going to make such a difference to the families we support day to day during such a difficult time.
“The team from Leightons Estate Agency have very kindly donated the cost of one chair which will allow a family member or friend to sit or sleep at a patient’s bedside during their stay in hospital. By providing this chair, Leightons has given families the chance to be there when it matters the most.”
A fundraising target of £10,500 was set by the team and will enable each ward at Airedale General Hospital to have their own dedicated specialist chair without having to go to another ward to source one.

“With an amazing £9,551 of the target already reached we’re so close to providing this equipment. As Airedale NHS Foundation Trust’s dedicated Charity it brings us so much joy to be able to work with local businesses and make a difference to our patients, visitors and colleagues across the Airedale Community.”
