Katie and Matt Airey from Pinnacle Events based in Sutton-in-Craven have raised a fantastic £800 for Airedale Hospital and Community Charity, specifically for Airedale Hospital’s Neonatal Unit.
The sold-out family friendly bonfire took place on Saturday 5 November at their farm in Sutton-in-Craven. 400 people attended and there was a large bonfire, fireworks, a DJ, entertainment, as well as a bar and food stalls.
Airedale Hospital and Community Charity raises funds to support patients, their families, and staff at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust. The Neonatal Unit (also known as the special care baby unit) provides care for babies who need special observation, monitoring, investigations, and treatments. Babies may stay on the unit for only a few hours or up to 16 weeks depending on their age and how much care they need.
The couple chose to fundraise for the unit as their baby, Bonnie, was cared for on the unit when she was born in May 2022.
Katie said:
“Experiencing the unit first-hand showed how incredible the nurses on the unit are. The support that they gave us was amazing, so we felt like we wanted to give something back.”
The event was sponsored by local companies: Airedale Chemicals, The Old White Bear, Leighton Estate Agents, and Wilman & Wilman.
Katie continued:
“It was a fantastic event, and a great time was had by all. We’d like to thank all businesses that sponsored our bonfire and everyone who helped us out. We hope to do the event year after year!”
A member of the midwifery team said:
“Thank you to Katie, Matt, and Bonnie for supporting Airedale’s Neonatal Unit. We’re honoured that they organised the event and very grateful for their support. It will make a huge difference to future patients and families.”
