Airedale Hospital and Community Charity (AHCC) have published their 2023/24 annual report with a look back over news, notable events and key statistics about the charity’s income and spend between April 2023 – March 2024.
AHCC is the official charity of Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, caring for patients, colleagues and communities across 700 square miles of West and North Yorkshire and East Lancashire.

“I’m delighted to share our 2023/24 annual report. Every day across this financial year we have witnessed incredible acts of human kindness.
“The Airedale community has shown generosity and remarkable consideration towards others with thoughtfulness, compassion and empathy.”
Thanks to the support and generous donations from the community, the charity raised a fantastic £281,000 between April 2023 – March 2024.
Throughout the year the charity’s fabulous fundraisers raised £18,967 taking on races and marathons alone including boxing challenges, The Great North Run and many more across the country.
The charity team gave it their heart and soul and taught 734 members of the community the lifesaving skill of CPR in a 12-hour CPR-a-thon. The event raised an incredible £2195.75 for the Emergency Department Appeal as well as bringing the local community together.
Through donations, fundraising and grants, AHCC were able to fund important equipment, items and projects to improve patient experience and staff wellbeing including comfortable seating in the restaurant of Airedale General Hospital.
In total, the charity spent £30,000 on staff welfare which included the annual AOK Wellbeing Grants, an opportunity for colleagues to apply for funding for items that will make a difference to their team’s wellbeing. ANHSFT Librarian Martyn applied for a grant to refresh the fiction books that are available for colleagues to borrow. The charity was happy to award £500 to this project to increase the appeal of using the library and encourage more people to read for pleasure.
£23,000 was spent on patient welfare. A fantastic example of this was a mini makeover to the assessment room in the Children’s Unit. New jungle themed ceiling tiles provide a much-needed distraction whilst patients undergo treatments, examinations or tests.
£22,000 on important medical equipment such as the Accuvein device for our Emergency Department. This handheld device is used to easily locate veins when patients require a blood test or similar procedure. It’s most beneficial when used on elderly patients and children. This new technology makes procedures much easier and quicker for both patients and clinicians.

“Our vision and goal is to enhance the wellbeing and experience of those using the services that Airedale NHS Foundation Trust provides and of our colleagues, across all our sites and community settings. I think it is fair to say that with your help we did just that in 2023/24.”
