Stories about the Charity and what it does

AHCC and Robertson Construction Yorkshire & East Midlands celebrate fundraising successes

By 8 March 2024No Comments

Robertson Construction Yorkshire & East Midlands are celebrating a year of amazing fundraising activities for AHCC and are looking forward to continuing the partnership throughout 2024.

As a Corporate Partner of the charity, Robertson has been instrumental in helping us to raise funds for our many appeals.  Robertson Group is one of the UK’s largest family-owned construction, infrastructure and support services businesses, and is currently working at Airedale Hospital to refurbish a number of areas on site.  Highlights of 2023 include:

Christmas at Airedale

Robertson supported our Christmas gift appeal by donating gifts, including games, chocolates and toiletries for patients of all ages.  The Christmas spirit culminated in a £250 donation to feature on the top of the charity’s first ever Tree of Light.  Our Christmas tree raised vital funds through the sponsorship of baubles, and Robertson had the huge honour of being the very first headline sponsor by topping the tree.

Skipton Dragon Boat Race

Donations raised by competing in the very competitive Skipton Dragon Boat race provided a very exhilarating way to raise funds for the charity!  In 2023, a team from Robertson took to the water to race for our ED Appeal – helping us towards our goal of raising £150,000 to refurbish the paediatric waiting area, the paediatric resuscitation area and the bereavement facilities in the Emergency Department at Airedale Hospital.  The team from Robertson are set to race again in 2024.  Watch this space!

Looking ahead

2024 will be an exciting year for the partnership with some huge plans already underway.

Jodie Hearnshaw, Head of Airedale Hospital and Community Charity, says of the partnership: “Corporate supporters give more than just money.  We really do appreciate the time, energy and expertise that Robertson has offered the charity – working together is a wonderful opportunity to provide the best possible care for local people and the staff that look after them.”

Jonathan Sizer, Regional Managing Director, Robertson Construction Yorkshire & East Midlands, commented: “Delivering our works in a live healthcare environment has given us the opportunity to see first-hand the benefits and essential services Airedale Hospital and Community Charity provide. We are proud to continue our support for the meaningful work they deliver.

“Building on the fantastic achievements from 2023, we are committed to furthering our impact throughout this year to ensure patients and staff receive the best possible care and support.”
